Weight Room Goals

Weight Room Goals:

My goal is to strengthen my upper body to build up muscles and my lower body to strengthen my legs for sports such as soccer and also to build up my stamina/endurance for beep tests and long-runs. By doing these activities combined I will be able to burn fat while strengthening my body.

Upper Body workouts: To build my triceps I will make a routine for different forms of push ups, and for my biceps, whenever we are in the weight room, I will use dumbbells to work out.

Whenever we are in weight room I will do these workouts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Boe4TrKXi6I

Lower Body Workouts: For my lower body work outs, I usually go on the treadmill for about 30-35 mins followed by sit-ups. I also go outside if the weather permits and do laps to build my stamina.

With commitment, I will reach my goals!

Fitness Testing #2

Beep Test: 8.4
Sit and Reach: 1
T test: 12.08
Plank: 1:23
Push ups: 21
Vertical:  35 cm
Board: 13

I feel a bit proud of myself for getting 8.4 on the beep test. as my last one was 7.5. Since It was the last beep test since winter break is coming up, I gave it my best but I think I could have  went to 9 but I missed 2 beeps. Some things I really need to work on are the boards and t test. Overall, I think I did pretty well and the extended beep test really helped.

Extended Beep Test

Extended Beep Test

Last Friday, we did the extended beep test which I enjoyed more than the regular old beep test. This is because we got time to rest and you ran at your own pace. I think this is why a lot of people like this activity. Additionally, it trains your body for the real fitness beep test and other activities such as marathons or races. I think we should do more of those activities and maybe do them outside in overcast. Big thumbs up to the teachers for trying this activity!

Yoga

Yoga

I believe last Friday we did insanity yoga. To be honest, I didn't like it a lot because I couldn't do the crazy ,"insane" yoga poses. Fortunately, I modified some of them and made it work out. I was impressed how some people could do it, and that motivated me to try my hardest to do these yoga poses. I think we should do more and new fitness activities such disco locomotion so it motivates people to try. Overall, the yoga insanity was alright and I enjoyed seeing people achieve these crazy poses.

Disco Loco Motion

Disco Locomotion

Nothing is better than disco locomotion after a four-day weekend! On Thursday, we did loco motion, but this time, in the dark with disco lights and music.I was really proud of myself at the end and I really enjoyed the activity. The music and people having fun is what motivated me to try harder. This was the best fitness day I've had so far in my 2 years of PE. I did the exercises slowly because the slower you workout, the harder and better it is!

HILL RUN

HILL RUN

On Friday, I did the hill run, but this one was longer and steeper than the one I did last year in grade 8. I liked how it was steeper as you would run more but I found it tiring which was good as it burned some fat. I also liked how most people were participating and not giving up. However, there were some slacking off, and resting when they weren't tired. I'm glad I didn't sit down when we did the run. It was fun to see how other people were racing each other and having a good time. Overall, I enjoyed this activity and I hope we do it again.

^I congratulate those people and myself for trying hard and not giving up!

Speedball

Speed ball

On Thursday, October 30th , we played a game called speed ball. The rules are, there are 3 soccer balls, in-game at the same time, and its played with the same rules as soccer but if you are able to catch the ball, then it can be played like America football. I found the game really fun, even if I played in the pouring rain. I especially liked how you were always running at all times and it was really enjoyable seeing people having fun and trying. I scored 2 goals, but I could have  scored more, but I passed it to other people so they get a chance to play. I would love to play that game again, but in the sun or snow!

Steel Workout

STEEL Workout

On Thursday, October 23rd, we watched a workout video. I didn't like it that much, but it was not bad. I didn't like how most of the exercises weren't running, or energetic ones but it also helped me focus on things I don't usually do on fitness days like different ways to stretch , different types of cardio and strength exercises. If you are interested, heres the video in the link below:

Capture The Flag

Capture The Flag

On Tuesday, October 21th , we did a game called capture the flag, but instead of flags we used bean bags. We had some trouble organizing the teams, as 1 team was stronger than the other. Fortunately, we pulled it through thanks to our grade 10's leadership skills. I enjoyed it very much but I didn't like how it was unfair at some times and some people just wasn't trying. So I went in the other team, and I tried to help them but I had to return back to mine due to confusion. In the end, I liked how some people were trying and having fun! Keep up with that attitude!

Indoor-Circuit

Indoor Circuit

On Friday, the 16th, we did a fitness exercise called "Indoor Circuit". How it works is: there are 12 stations, and you have to keep rotating from station 1 to station 12. You and your group members have 45 seconds to work out in each station. Some of the stations were: the obstacle course , where you have to navigate through cones and go under hockey nets to get out,  and many more. I  liked all of them and I really pushed myself to work hard during those 45 seconds. I am not sore anymore, as I stretched a lot before completing the exercises and I am damn proud of myself.

Loco-locomotion

Last Friday I did this fitness exercise called Loco-locomotion in the upper field. I didn't enjoy is as much as I usually do, as I tried giving it my all but it had just rained and the grass was wet which made it hard to run. Loco motion is basically ten exercises, first set for 30 seconds, second for 1 minute, and then the last set for 30 seconds. Overall, I would rate this experience a 8 / 10 , mostly because of the wet grass.

Pond Run

Well, I am a bit late for this post as I had difficulties setting my blog. The pond run was fun and I felt really proud of myself as I never walked once when we had to run. This year, I decided to take fitness seriously and always try my best. Last year, I didn't put much time into P:E because I had other things to focus on like Math. Anyway, I was really tired after the pond run but I still enjoyed it.
 Hard work pays off!

Fitness Results

Push Ups: 15
Sit/Reach: 2
Max Vertical: 260 cm
T-test: 12 sec
Balance Boards: 2 sec
Body Bridge: 1 min
Beep Test: 7

It was pretty hard to go back to being fit after an extended summer, that's why my scores are not that great. But I will try my best and work hard to improve everyday, even though it's not that much of an improvement, it's still an improvement. I will get better scores on the upcoming beep tests as I will give it my all. One suggestion I would like to make would be to try to do beeeep teats outside when it is sunny as you would get plenty of fresh air and more space to run and have fun!
